Vintage Afghan War Rug 2.04m x 1.34m
Vintage Afghan War Rug 2.04m x 1.34m
This rug was woven in Afghanistan in the last quarter of the 20th Century, probably during the Soviet occupation of the 1980s. Although I occasionally come across these rugs, they are nearly always knotted (this one is a Soumakh weave), mostly small size (around 1.50m x 1.00m, whereas this one is much larger) and usually have tanks, guns, planes etc. all over the rug. However, this rug has a more tranquil scene with a river, animals, boats and plants and, only at the top of the rug, there are some planes and helicopters (with what looks like a Mujahid shooting at them!). In any case, it’s an unusual piece of social history.
Size: 2.04m x 1.34m (6ft 8in x 4ft 5in)

Please note that all photos as well as the short videos are taken outdoors in natural light. The explainer videos are taken in my showroom under spotlights and may appear different (often a yellowish tinge). The photos remain closer to the original colours but this will change slightly in different home lighting. In no way does this affect your right to return the rug. Please remember that I want my clients to be happy with their purchase and would be happy to find the perfect alternative.

Returns Policy
To put it simply, I want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. If, for any reason, you are dissatisfied with your rug, please return it to me in it's original condition within 14 days for a full refund.
As well as the descriptions, age and where they were made, all my antique rugs have a brief condition report. I mention things like wear, what the fringes and edges look like and any issues like repairs, usually with photos. Occasionally, I may miss something (like a small well done repair). If you notice something and this bothers you, please feel free to send it back to me for a full refund.
Actually, even if you don’t find anything and you’re just not 100% sure you like it, send it back for a full refund. Or we can find something even more awesome.
