Antique Gabbeh Rug 2.68m x 1.42m
Antique Gabbeh Rug 2.68m x 1.42m
An exceptional antique Gabbeh rug, handwoven by the nomadic Qashqai tribe circa 1900 with a geometrical design on a saffron yellow field and great secondary colours. Signed by the weaver, Galander Sed Gir. There are a couple of interesting elements within the design - the first is the way the diagonal design on the yellow field suddenly stops which would indicate that the weaver changed her mind whilst weaving the rug. The second is in the bottom left of the rug where the numbers ‘123’ are woven - no idea what this may signify but I would love to know what was going on in her mind! A fantastic example of tribal art and highly collectible.
Size: 2.68m x 1.42m (8ft 10in x 4ft 8in)

As well as the descriptions, age and where they were made, all my antique rugs have a brief condition report. I mention things like wear, what the fringes and edges look like and any issues like repairs, usually with photos. Occasionally, I may miss something (like a small well done repair). If you notice something and this bothers you, please feel free to send it back to me for a full refund.
Actually, even if you don’t find anything and you’re just not 100% sure you like it, send it back for a full refund. Or we can find something even more awesome.
