A lovely vintage Pao-Tao rug, handwoven in China circa 1940. The design features a single Fenghuang bird in front of a flowering tree on a deep indigo field. This mythical bird is an auspicious symbol representing high virtue and grace and heralds good things to come or the beginning of a new era.

This rug is in good condition with light age related wear. The fringes and selvedges are original and secure and it has been professionally cleaned.

I mention things like wear, what the fringes and edges look like and any issues like repairs, usually with photos. Occasionally, I may miss something (like a small well done repair). If you notice something and this bothers you, please feel free to send it back to me for a full refund.
