Antique Qashqai Khorjin Bag 0.53m x 0.26m
A fabulous antique Khorjin double bag woven by the nomadic Qashqai tribe at the beginning of the 20th Century. The designs of each side are very similar with a central rosette on an ivory field with four animal figures (either dogs or goats) in the corners. Finely woven for a tribal piece with soft, lustrous wool. These Khorjin were woven to transport possessions during their biannual migrations. However, I have never seen one this tiny! It’s only 53cms by 26cms and I can’t imagine it would have been much use for carrying anything, let alone what animal it would actually fit on! A very charming and unusual bag.

This bag is in good condition with light, age related wear. Small amount of restoration to secure the kilim on the back (see photos). Fringes and selvedges are secure and it has been professionally cleaned.
